My Story

WHERE IT STARTED

Like so many of the women I’ve worked with, I started by journey at the bottom. After years of frustration with my weight and health I reached the point where enough was enough, and it was time to do something about it.

But, despite the best of intentions, I became a chronic dieter. Hopping from plan to plan, trapped in a cycle of losing and gaining the same 30 pounds, I became frustrated and disheartened by conflicting information about the best way to lose weight and keep it off.

Even though some diets worked, for a while, none of them brought about the lasting change I sought.

Over time, the myriad diet plans, idealized images of “fit women,” and my own unrelenting pursuit of perfection left me with an unhealthy, and unbalanced, mindset. 

I knew something needed to change. For good.

A SEARCH FOR TRUTH & MEANING

As a truth seeker, I've always been interested in the facts. Despite falling for diet lies and weight loss myths, I’ve sought to know the truth about nutrition, exercise, hormones, metabolism, and the reasons why some people succeed with weight loss long term, while others fail.

My passion for truth and my longing for balance in my life led me to invest time and resources to sift through “wellness” industry falsehoods and gain accurate knowledge about the best way to protect and maintain our health, for life. 

This work allowed me to go beyond superficial goals of being smaller, better looking, or living up to unreachable standards that didn’t fit my personal values. As a result, I was able to tap into my internal drive, determination, and commitment to living a healthy lifestyle…on my terms.

THE SHIFT

This transformation happened when I made the shift away from thinking in terms of rigid rules and willpower, and toward clarity about who I am and what I stand for when it comes to my quality of life.

This shift is how I set the direction I wanted to go in to build my best life.

Through education, experience, and an “ah-ha” moment with my vision and values, I finally learned how to eat and move in a way that was best for MY body.  I discovered how to be flexible with food without going totally off the rails.

At 46, I’m in the best shape of my life, mentally and physically, and I know how to do it without giving up my life for the sake weight loss. 

Lessons learned

  • Life is better when we use our talents and experience to better the lives of others.

  • My value as a person is not determined by the number on the scale.

  • True happiness comes from realizing our full potential, learning to be content when life gets uncomfortable, and enjoying the fruit of our labor.
