I was like you.
I too started my journey with health in mind. But the conflicting information about what counts as "healthy," the myriad diet plans, and unrelenting images of uber-fit women, coupled with my gnawing desire to lose weight, left me with an unhealthy and unbalanced mindset.
I became a chronic dieter. Some diets worked, some didn't. None of them brought about permanent change.
I knew something needed to change. For good.
As a truth seeker, I've always been interested in the facts about nutrition, exercise, hormones, the metabolism, and the psychology of behavior change.
Despite all the crazy diets I tried, I truly wanted to know what worked. I invested heavily in using my time and resources to sift through the diet-industry garbage to find the gems.
Through the combination of my education, my personal weight loss journey, and an unrelenting search for success, I finally learned how to eat and move in a way that was best for MY body. I discovered sustainable and effective ways to stay fit without giving up my life for the sake of a diet.
I CAME FULL CIRCLE
During my undergraduate time at the University of Washington I dabbled in nutrition, biology, and social psychology. I was fascinated by both the science and the interpersonal aspects of health. It wasn't until years later, after a successful corporate career and then having children, that things came full circle and I found my calling in health and fitness.
Now, as a Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Nutrition Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, I am on a mission to use my talents and experience to better the lives of my clients.
Since obtaining my certification, I have also mentored with well known Registered Dietician and Author, Georgie Fear, and Author and Nutrition Habits Coaching Expert, Josh Hillis, of One By One Nutrition, Inc., who specialize in weight loss education.
It took time, but I learned that happiness does not come from the number on the scale or the accuracy of my food log.
True happiness comes from realizing our full potential, learning to be content when life gets uncomfortable, and finding out where we add value.
My goal is to help other women find success on their journey to better health and well-being.
